Her body of work includes award-winning fiction and nonfiction books (including Who Was Amelia Earhart?, from the New York Times best-selling Who Was series) in addition to multiple series done in collaboration with renowned publishers, including National Geographic and Arcadia Publishing.

Kate’s brings her insight and leadership to local, national, and international organizations focused on education, intergenerational connections, and environmental stewardship. She currently serves as an Ambassador for Stanford’s Center on Longevity, a Mentor for the University of Chicago’s Leadership and Society Initiative, and is a National Advisor to Reading Partners. She is also an active Director Emerita at the South Carolina Aquarium.
